  • Overview

    As a Sr. Energy Engineer you will identify, develop, design, and implement energy efficiency and energy conservation strategies for Enel X’s commercial and industrial customers.  From energy audits to the design and construction of energy efficiency measures, your work will span the lifecycle of energy management projects. 
    Ideal candidates will have a record of accomplishment in delivering energy engineering support on multiple, short-term and long-term projects, in communicating project status to the larger project team, and in managing expectations both inside and outside of the organization.  Ideal candidates have a relentless focus on innovation, quality and process improvement, and continuously search for better ways to meet and exceed the customer’s project requirements.  Ideal candidates will have a passion for changing the way the world uses energy by leveraging their technical skills to deliver feasible and effective energy management.
    This is an exciting role for a motivated individual who is passionate about levering a depth of engineering expertise to achieve actual impact for large enterprise customers who share Enel’s dedication to energy management. 


    - General Technical Duties
    - Identify:
    - Oversee and deliver on a roadmap of client energy management efforts, including identifying potential and evaluating previously identified energy projects
    - Lead energy auditing efforts, including site visits, measure identification, measure development, and reporting
    - Plan for and coordinate the requests for client resources
    - Work with the client’s facility engineers and operators, design teams, and contractors to evaluate systems, gather facility information, and manage implementation efforts

    - Develop
    - Develop calculations for energy savings, implementation costs, and carbon emissions
    - Conduct analysis on BMS trend data, including evaluating BMS systems to identify what data is required for analysis and reporting
    - Perform facility modeling in various tools, including spreadsheets, eQuest, and other
    - Develop and preform Pre-functional and Functional Performance tests
    - Develop new analytical tools as needed and conduct advanced technical training to internal and external stakeholders
    - Using regression and inverse modeling techniques to develop energy baselines

    - Design
    - Develop Measurement & Verification (M&V) plans, results and reports
    - Develop or evaluate Sequence of Operations and other design documents
    - Manage the development of pre-design documentation

    - Implement
    - Communicate with customer’s stakeholders on all aspects of project development, including project progress, project roadblocks and achieved savings

    - Deliverable Development
    - Present results to customers and acting as the main conduit for customer feedback and suggestions
    - Organize, write, and approve project reports

    - Perform oversight on renewable energy projects, including:
    - Oversee reporting on existing renewable energy projects’ energy and cost performance
    - Lead the program team in the overall development of microgrid assessments projects
    - Lead the evaluation and implementation of on-site and off-site renewable energy opportunities, including physical and financial PPAs
    - Manage vendors and subcontractors tasked with evaluating and developing renewable projects

    Required Qualifications:
    - Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Mechanical Engineering or related field
    - 8+ years of work experience in related role or related field of energy efficiency project management, energy engineering, energy auditing
    - Comprehensive knowledge of energy efficiency programs, practices and procedures with energy consuming systems in both industrial and commercial settings
    - Experience with commercial, institutional, and industrial facilities
    Desired Qualifications:
    - Master’s degree or equivalent
    - Strong background in industrial heating and cooling systems, compressed air systems, HVAC systems, heating and cooling coil design, fan design, chiller design, hydronic design, and control systems including sequence of operations.
    - Experience in renewable energy systems
    - Ability to travel up to 10% on an annual basis
    - Desired professional certifications would include CEM, LEED AP, PMP, and/or P.E. license
